Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, Pr Sherin Moussa is Head of the AI and Robotics Department

Since September 2022, Prof. Sherin M. Moussa is on a national mission to the Université Francaise d’Egypte as the Head Department of the Technology Informatics and Communications (TIC) Department. Prof. Moussa received the B.S. degree and the M.S. degree in computer and information sciences from Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences (FCIS), Ain Shams University (ASU), Cairo, Egypt, in 2000 and 2004. She had her PhD in the field of Mobile Computing from ASU in conjunction with the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA, in 2010. From 2010 to 2016, she was an Assistant Professor, then an Associate Professor from 2016 to 2020, then a Full Professor at FCIS by 2021. Previously, she was the Director of the Quality and Accreditation Unit at FCIS, the Consultant of Foreign Affairs at the Research & Development of Projects Center at ASU, and the Director of Grants & International Collaboration Office (GICO) at ASU.

In addition to the scientific research contributions and international publications in high-ranked journals and conferences, Prof. Moussa has +23 years of wide industrial exposure to IT solutions and software applications, operation, and management of multiple/complex national/regional projects. Her experience has been accumulated through moving across several responsibilities and roles, including technical development, project management, professional services, and business development. Prof. Sherin showed a great interest and practical effort in entrepreneurial activities and skills. She had several certificates; she was certified from Malaysia Technology Development Center, Kuala Lampur, for MTDC Technology Commercialization and from China for ICT in Higher Education. She is a Certified Recognized Reviewer, with experience in research supervision at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In all research projects, students were completely involved, putting a strong emphasis on serving as a mentor to support their research efforts. Her research interests include Big Data Analytics, Internet of Things, ICT in Agriculture and Industry, Data Mining, Mobile Data Management, Data Streaming, GIS, Software Engineering, Big Data Privacy and Publishing, Personalization, and Mobile Computing.

During her academic life, She had the chance to teach a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in several reputable international universities, in which she provided full content leadership and curriculum details for some newly-developed courses for the first time. Frequently responsible for running seminars, programming contests, workshops, engagement with student-run initiatives.
