AI & Robotics Department

Objectives

  • UFE’s ambition is to be a reference locally and regionally on the digital transformation job market and to conduct scientific research at the service of society and with a sustainable environmental approach.
  • The Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Department trains specialist engineers who master both the fundamental knowledge of computer science and current technologies and are able to assimilate those of tomorrow.
  • This department provides the latest technologies for data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, internet of things, computer vision, gaming, big data analytics, data visualization, as well as cloud computing, embedded systems, autonomous systems and robotics.
  • In today’s world, artificial intelligence and robotics being inseparable, the UFE training aims to make students agile in order to master the links between the different disciplines that will be useful to them.
  • We also work on their interpersonal skills so that they aim for excellence and efficiency, in a permanent process of innovation and respect for the environment. Leadership, team spirit, autonomy, organization and agility are developed, as is the ability to communicate well.
  • To do this, students are put into real-life situations through internships in companies and by managing projects connected to market needs. This confrontation with reality allows students to gain in autonomy, initiative and organization.

Management and animation of the Department

  • Sherin Moussa is the director of the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Department. She received her BSc and MSc in Computer Science from the Faculty of Computer Science, Ain Shams University. She obtained her PhD jointly with the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA. In addition to her research contributions and international publications, she has more than 20 years of experience in regional IT projects in different government and private organizations. Her research interests include big data analytics, data streaming, software engineering, and privacy preservation.
  • High quality teaching and research are offered to students in conjunction with French partner universities.
  • The faculty members are highly qualified to teach in both French and English. Their teaching and research activities revolve around practical experience in the various fields, which is passed on to the students through several projects and technical competitions conducted throughout successive semesters, in order to allow them to gain practical experience and work in teams.
  • The Artificial Intelligence and Robotics department provides a steady stream of publications on the application of various artificial intelligence techniques, in particular machine learning, deep learning, and applied mathematics to various domains, such as the Internet of Things, learning analytics, classification, image recognition and generation, visually based dialogue systems, sentiment analysis, computer vision, and natural language processing.
