Founded in 1970, the Sorbonne Nouvelle University has its origin in the former Faculty of Literature of Paris University.

The University of Haute-Alsace has 7,500 students, 570 teachers and researchers, 450 administrative staff and 15 laboratories.

The INSA is a large higher school of architects and engineers, placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the school receives 1,700 students in its premises. It trains engineers over five years in seven specialties, ranging from mechanics, to civil engineering, including plastics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, climate and energy engineering and topography, as well as architects. Three specialties are available on a work-study program. The school joined the INSA group, which gather six national institutes of applied sciences. It also belongs to the Alsace Tech network that brings together the twelve major engineering, architecture and management schools of Alsace.
