The French University in Egypt & Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University offer a European Master in Cultural Heritage Management. The multidisciplinary program of studies is the first program in Egypt to address how to manage Egypt’s vast cultural resources through a broad spectrum of courses dealing with archaeological sites, natural parks, folk heritage, historical cities and traditional architecture, museums, and cultural tourism. The Master is designed especially for those who want advance in their professional career, wish to create their own business in heritage industries, or to advance their knowledge for safeguarding heritage. The Program is co-directed by Professor Fekri Hassan and Professor Maria-Gravari Barbas. Program coordinator and student liaison is Ms. Perihane Radwan.

The program was founded in 2010/11 and was celebrated by Egyptian and French dignitaries including the then Ministers of Culture Dr. Emaad Abu Ghazi, Tourism, Fakhry Abel-Nour, and the French Ambassadors as well as prominent figures in the fields of culture and heritage.

The program was developed and discussed before its inauguration with prominent intellectual leaders in Egypt including Professor Ahmed Moursi (Intangible Heritage and Folklore), Dr. Emad Abu Ghazi (History and Heritage), Prof. Fathi Saleh (IT application in Heritage Documentation and Management), Baha Taher (writer), Gamal El-Ghitani (writer), Amer Ezabi (tourism), Dr. Dalila El-Kerdany (Architecture and Museums), Dr. Galila El-Kadi (architect), Helmy el-Tony (Painter), and Samir Gharib (then in charge of Urban Harmonization, Ministry of Culture).
